parts needed - timer dial and single pot

We have a 1946 model b highback. it's in great shape and in addition to the safety system needs a timer dial and single pot. we've tried for a few pots on ebay but have been outbid at the last minute. as for the timer dial we've put out some queries but nothing has turned up so far.

if anyone has a timer dial that might fit, i'd been interested in buying one.

as for the pots, i think i need to hit the flea markets.

When you're ready for a safety system, be careful not to get ripped off - the parts for them are available to you or your local gas appliance serviceman, and you DON'T have to spend $400+ for a kit with rebuilt parts!

i was going to post about some nice stoves,pots and thermobaker on ebay when i saw this msg.
todd is absolutely right. all of the parts are readily available for your safety system. and yes, TOAC does use rebuilt ts-11 valves and yes, they do charge $400 plus.
but you can buy brand new ts-11 valves, like i do, for around $150. then just get some flexible gas tubing, tubing bender, cutter and a bunch of brass gas fittings and a thermocouple and slap it all together so it looks and functions just like the factory option on the model c.
im sure your local gas company tech could come up with something that would do the job. id be curious to know what parts they use and what they charge.
so, if anyone wants to go out and get the parts ill give you some online sources with good prices. just let me know.

thanks. i've got a call into our local appliance service place as i've heard they are pretty good with older appliances and i've used them before for a number of things. i may just need your instructions in order to see how complicated this is. i'm sure for you it seems easy but for me, all the t-stuff and tubing and fittings sounds like a lot of work.

I got my single pot and 2 of 3 pots, my timer, lights and interior door panel off E-bay, but that was a year ago. Chamber items are more expensive these days. The prices on some items are just ridicules, but goes to show what's hot!!

I have an idea [img]graemlins/smarty.gif[/img] for you. Have you thought of doing an instruction manual for the gas safety system for the DIYers??? Put them on E-Bay, etc.. for the different brands of stoves.

I'd be interested in DIY instructions, or at least a diagram. I'm very handy and my husband can make anything (can you tell I like him?), but we've never seen the safety system for one of these stoves. I don't know which parts to get, and where to run them. One of my questions: since the stove shuts all it's vents, etc., with the gas turned off, how does the pilot operate safely? May be a silly question, but inquiring minds want to know.

Sam and I are working on a kit that would have all of the necessary parts, plus well-written instructions - WITH PICTURES - for a safety system.

We've also thought of writing the instructions and making them available for a small fee, and let people buy the parts themselves.

Which would ya'll prefer?

I suspect there would be a market for both. I'd probably prefer the kit so I didn't have to run around looking for stuff.

A kit sounds good to me. Would make life easier and probably wouldn't make the job so daunting for some of us.

People i,e, the general public, love having a choice. Give them a choice of purchasing a kit and/or instructions only.
